Like any other camcorder, the more light you have, the better the picture quality will be. With the GZ-MS130, you have two options: You can set the shutter speed manually, and select a slower shutter to add more brightness. Setting the shutter to 1/15th of a second will let you record a brighter image in very low light than what you can see with your own eyes. If you use a slower shutter, keep in mind that it will add some motion blur. Alternately, you can turn on the video light. If you truly want to record in total darkness, you will not get a very good picture.
